Abstract

The Army National Guard (ARNG) has a well-established environmental program. There are improvements that the ARNG could implement to make their program more effective and efficient. The proposed changes in this Capstone Project would greatly improve the ARNG's environmental program. Modifications in the ARNG's National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) procedures would be a start. Adding environmental training, a localized ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS), increased leadership emphasis, adaptive management techniques, and environmental risk assessment, the ARNG environmental program would become more fiscally responsible while reducing possible environmental impacts. Implementation of the proposed actions in this Capstone Project would help the ARNG meet the Army's goals of having a sustainable training and range program.
