Abstract
This paper is a reflective case study of two novice consultants delivering sport psychology services to a high school varsity lacrosse team. The consultants utilized their own theoretical orientations to performance excellence to design a mental skills training program for this team. However, several unanticipated factors, including but not limited to, low attendance and motivation, a lack of resources, and coaching staff prevented these consultants from effectively delivering services. Reflections upon the lessons learned from this experience and resulting recommendations to future novice consultants are discussed.
