Abstract
In the present study, we investigated the statistical distributions of on-road CO and HC emissions by comparing the skewness and kurtosis of the distributions. The results of the analysis based on remote sensing data sets show that on-road automobile CO and HC emission distributions are well represented by a gamma-distribution. Laboratory dynamometer emissions measurements are similarly distributed, thus the classical statistics based on the assumptions of normal distributions cannot be applied.
