Abstract

While the basic theory of preventive law has survived the test of time, its application in recent years has been extended and expanded to a wide variety of new areas, such as environmental law, sex discrimination, and computer law. In addition, new applications have been found in the more traditional areas of estate planning, corporate compliance, business planning, and property transactions. In an increasingly litigious society in which law schools emphasize the curative rather than preventive role of law in society, it is hoped that these materials will provide students with new perspectives on the role and function of both law and lawyers.
