Abstract
Mergers and acquisitions are frequently used as a business strategy to expand in a service area or market, but a majority of mergers and acquisitions have been identified as failures. Many of the reasons identified as leading to failure are related to people integration issues. To enhance the success of an acquisition, companies should consider the acquisition intent, employee expectations at both firms, and employee reactions to the acquisition. This project addresses integration issues that often cause acquisitions to fail, including communication, culture, operations, ‰ÛÏme‰Û issues, and decision making. The research conducted looked at acquisitions from the perspective of the employees who are part of the acquired firm and provides an integration guide for employers going through the acquisition process.
