Abstract
Theater for development programs has been successfully implemented in lesser developed countries as a creative way to educate populations on issues having a negative impact on communities. In Haiti, theater for development workers has a unique opportunity to reach the illiterate poor. The researcher has found no evidence of theater for development programs implemented in Haiti. Research performed for this paper examines theater practices in Haiti and theater for development programs in similar countries. The research provides a foundation for a business plan for a proposed non-profit organization called Creative Voices United whose mission will be to promote messages of social change and development in Haiti by facilitating theatrical performances that educate, illuminate and move communities to action.
