Abstract
This capstone examines the issue of 24/7 cable news content and the blurring lines between fact-based and opinion-based news, providing a historic overview of the development of 24/7 cable news, how the industry began, and the direction that it has taken. This project provides a survey of current cable employees and cable veterans designed to garner recommendations for viewer guidelines on differentiating between fact-based and opinion-based news content. These recommendations and research findings result in a foundation for designing guidelines to assist viewers in critically analyzing 24/7 cable news content.
