Abstract

Stormwater pollution negatively impacts the waters of the United States. The Industrial Park in Centerville City, Utah has recently come under suspicion for discharging large amounts of hazardous wastes into the City's storm drainage system. The Industrial Park's drainage system discharges into the Farmington Bay wetlands, which then discharges into The Great Salt Lake. In June, Centerville City adopted a stormwater ordinance to regulate stormwater discharges. This Capstone develops an inspection process and educational materials that Centerville will use to inspect businesses and to inform businesses owners about stormwater pollution. This Capstone will also help Centerville meet Federal requirements in regards to stormwater education, public involvement, pollution prevention, and illicit discharge detection and elimination.
