Abstract
In 2008, the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 20 gap analysis cited the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center (PVAMC) for failing to have a mechanism to address the International Organization for Standardization ISO 14001:2004 standards as set forth in VA Directive 0057, specifically ISO section 4.4.4, System Documentation. All PVAMC Medical Center Memorandums (MCMs) were reviewed, and language was developed and incorporated into applicable MCMs. Previously established policies were modified to address the VISN 20 gap-analysis citation. This capstone establishes criteria for processing the Portland VA Medical Center's MCMs and analyzes systemic changes that both met the VA Directive requirement and the ISO 14001:2004 standards.
