Abstract
Volunteers are crucial to the natural resource and recreational management at Lake Mead National Recreation Area because of the large size and high number of visitors. The volunteer program needed Support Your Park web pages on the Lake Mead National Recreation Area website to achieve volunteer Centennial goals and prepare for future funding loss. The web pages will inform the public on how they can help maintain Lake Mead National Recreation Area by volunteering, and other options. The website was launched on July 3, 2008 after considerable research and planning. Following ten weeks of operation, the website has shown to be successful in supporting the volunteer program with over 1,300 website hits and has received specific volunteer applications and inquiries.
