Abstract
Education is the most powerful tool at our disposal to help solve and prevent environmental problems. Environmental education aims to educate the whole child by empowering them with a solid foundation of knowledge while giving them the opportunity to build the skills needed to enhance their problem-solving abilities. This Capstone Project is an example of how school districts can enhance their existing science curriculum and develop an effective environmental education program by adhering to certain principles. Using Poudre School District science curriculum as the launching platform, this Capstone Project contains numerous lesson plans that allow teachers in elementary schools to implement an environmental education program and change their students' attitude towards the environment while meeting their district mandated standards.
