Abstract
Self-insured employers have the ability to control and impact their healthcare plans by adopting and integrating disruptive healthcare technologies. The aim of the researcher is to examine how these disruptive technologies might be identified, where they fit in the care continuum, and optimal processes for adoption and integration. In doing so, it is the researchers' expectation that these employers will enhance provider delivery options and patient compliance, while at the same time reduce internal plan costs, increase healthcare quality and lead to better patient outcomes. Roadblocks exist in this market for disruptive technologies in terms of regulatory clearance and reimbursement methodology. Self-insured plan sponsors are positioned to alleviate some of those barriers and increase a more timely and impactful entrance into the market.
