Abstract
Correctional care has continued to struggle with the way in which to treat offenders within their facilities. With regard to the complexity of the many intricate factors surrounding health care within the correctional setting, telemedicine will allow us to simplify, economize and expedite diagnosis and treatment for correctional offenders. Telemedicine incorporates not only recent technological developments, but it also provides medical care that will increase efficiency without scarifying the quality of care delivered. There have been many correctional facilities that have successfully implemented telemedicine and many more are on the verge of exploring telemedicine. As a result, this form of medical treatment delivery provides increased security to the community as well as a cost savings for the correctional facility.
