Abstract
The Way to the Way is a collection of poetry that chronicles a poetic journey toward enlightenment and understanding of the self using Taoism as a guide. Western poetic forms including sonnet and villanelle are used to experiment with the ways in which poetry can help one poet's understanding of personal philosophy and the self. With discussions of an iconic sonnet from author William Shakespeare and a villanelle from Dylan Thomas, this Capstone Project shows how short poetic forms can conquer big ideas. The poetry is also published on a website entitled The Way to the Way. The project includes a critical reflection paper that discusses how the author became more comfortable with her personal journey through the writing process.
