Abstract
Diamonds Down Under II: An American Walkabout is the first act of an original feature-length screenplay. The story is the sequel to a completed script about an American playing baseball in Australia. In this story the main character brings an aborigine with him to the United States to participate as replacement players during the Major League Baseball strike. Accompanying this first act is a reflective essay that explores the creation of the script as well as the process of writing and researching the content. The essay discusses the construction and thought process that went into creating the story, as well as the Hero's Journey that served as its structural model.
