Abstract
Photowriting is an interactive process developed by the author that involves taking pictures, studying photos, and writing observations to become attuned to the surrounding world. Photo-palettes (groups of images) and jotted phrases serve as springboards for developing descriptive stories. This capstone includes Mirror Images, a short story written using photowriting. In Mirror Images, Aiden, a young man running from a troubled life, finds himself on assignment far from home interviewing a retired photographer. Nina, the elder photographer, is living alone at The Friendly Home. They both discover a surprising link given the twists of their lives. The capstone also includes a reflective essay that examines the experience of applying the process of photowriting to a work of fiction.
