Abstract
This Creative Capstone focuses on the dynamic relationship between daughters and fathers and how it affects the dynamics of love relationships between daughters and the men in their lives. The creative core of this project is a piece of autobiographical fiction based on relationships with three men (the primary one being the protagonist's father); it explores the ways in which the father-daughter relationships influenced two of the protagonist's love relationships. The analytical component of the project surveys a range of novels that focus on complex father-daughter relationships in order to discover what familiar patterns the stories have in common and how those patterns ultimately affect the female protagonist's motivations and plotlines that arise from them.
