Abstract
ESports (competitive video gaming) is a competitive domain that has grown exponentially in the past several years. The need to perform at the highest level of competition has never been more crucial for eSports competitors. In order to explore the specific obstacles encountered and current techniques gamers already utilized, a qualitative content analysis was conducted. Five high level competitive League of Legend players were interviewed in order to gain insight from those immersed in eSports. Through the interviews, two high order themes were discovered: techniques used to achieve optimal performance and obstacles encountered by competitive gamers. The data collected can be used by future consultants, gamers, and academics who wish to serve, improve, or study those involved in an emerging performance domain.
