Abstract
Females have always had the perceived disadvantage during negotiations. A meeting planner's job revolves around negotiating. An independent business owner has negotiation challenges ranging from competing against larger companies to negotiating the lease in their building. A female, independent meeting planner faces all these negotiation challenges simultaneously. The lack of information for this specific group of individuals has lead to research about all three distinct areas, females, meeting planners, and independent businesses. Comparison of secondary data to primary data obtained from professionals currently in this field is presented here. The conclusions drawn from the comparisons will help female, independent meeting planners succeed in negotiation, an area necessary for their professional survival.
