Abstract

Using socialization tactics as a theoretical framework, this project conveys the opportunity to improve the onboarding process at The Brickman Group, a commercial landscaping company, and proposes a process to better assimilate newcomers into the organization. Using primary research from a survey implemented in the Rocky Mountain Division, results show the need for a formalized onboarding process. This project involves designing a standardized onboarding process, including an orientation class for Brickman in which new employees at all organizational levels can engage. This strategic onboarding design will be an essential process that contributes to reduced uncertainty among new employees, turning new potentials into producers more quickly, and a reduction of turnover by welcoming the employee into the strategy of the organization.
