Abstract

This Must Be the Place is a memoir of finding home. It reflects on growing up as the daughter of a career military man, the legacies of that childhood, and the resulting search for belonging in marriage and place. Accompanying the memoir is a reflective essay that discusses the creative process, project contexts, and a final critical reflection. Combined, the memoir and essay are the culmination of the requirements for an advanced liberal studies degree. As a literary work, the project hopes to speak to all who struggle to find home especially to those who grew up trans-culturally.
