Abstract
Photography and Trust: the Viewer's Dilemma investigates the effects of altering photographic images on the viewer's sense of trust and presents visual art as evidence. This Capstone topic was developed by connecting the viewer's perception of trust to the artists' usage of new technological tools as enhancements. Trust is explored by comparing three pure and three reworked photographic images and analyzes violations of trust by the viewer. This creative Capstone includes an introduction to the history of trust in the photographic image, a visual exploration on the effects of manipulating digital images and an analysis of trust affecting aesthetics.
