Abstract
The Unity consists of the first four chapters of a young adult novel, preceded by a reflective essay. The story is a hero's journey, and in these chapters, the main conflicts of the novel are set up; the main characters, Jeremy and Becca, are introduced, and they are propelled through their escape from captivity in the headquarters of an evil corporation. In the reflective essay I explain where my ideas for the story originated and how I developed the arc of the story through my experiences and encounters. I also explain my overall process. This manuscript is a work in progress.
