Abstract
After the creation and revision of two short stories, Midnight Stilettos and Devon's Mirror, the writer explores her inspiration, previous and newly-discovered writing and revision processes, and overall capstone experience in a reflective essay. This essay showcases her epiphanies pertaining to personal writing beliefs and practices and acknowledges areas of needed improvement. Both stories explore calls to reality where choices must be made remain stagnant or be pushed out of a comfort zone and grow in the process. With the help of an academic advisor, the author completed a capstone project that reflects successful and unsuccessful writing and revision attempts, increased creative and critical thinking, and an improved awareness and recognition of her role as a student and a writer.
