Abstract
The cost of medical care and pharmaceuticals continues to rise, and the aging population and workforce has driven an increase in the use of existing medical resources. The availability of medical resources (staff, treatments, supplies and equipment) to provide treatment in a timely manner to entire populations is finite. These issues have caused increased cost for all lines of insurance, including Workers' Compensation (WC). This is significant to employers and can affect their bottom line. In order to protect the interests of our society, we must find efficient healthcare management processes to aid in controlling costs and preserve medical resources. Affordable healthcare and a healthier patient- employee population increases individual and community productivity.
