Abstract

Leadership is a popular topic right now, with many subtopics that leave room for interpretation. Current leadership programs available on a national level vary from general focus areas including how to be a leader to specific focus areas including business and religion. This project studies themes within current leadership programs available to high school and college students and interviews with educators and business professionals. Findings show a leadership program designed for high school students to be beneficial for the long-term development of young leaders. While there are many programs available on a national level, there are not many options for Colorado high school students. This project presents a high school leadership program curriculum for the High Trails Outdoor Education Center.
