Abstract

Three quarters of a century after the Scopes monkey trial, Kansas authorities have taken action to withdraw textbooks teaching evolution in the public schools. Disclaiming all references to religious doctrine, these authorities insist that man was created some 4,000 years ago at noon and that any teaching to the contrary should be couched as a "theory."
