Abstract
Companies with holistic corporate cultures achieve gender parity in executive leadership positions at higher rates than those that focus on programs designed to advance women leaders. A holistic culture is one that recognizes and supports employees as individuals, parents, caregivers, and team members. The link between a holistic culture and gender parity was confirmed by the research completed for this Capstone Project. This project provides data on the characteristics of corporate culture that are shared by Fortune 500 companies with more than 40 percent women in executive leadership positions. The project recommends culture-based strategies for organizations to implement as they strive to create more holistic cultures, and thereby increase the number of women in senior management.
