Abstract
The Fine Art of Folk Art in Contemporary Society investigates the relationship that exists between folk art and fine art in the 20th and 21st centuries. It reveals similarities and underlying discrepancies that are present in the histories and artistic processes of both fine and folk art pieces. Globalization is mentioned specifically to address the role it has played in the history and overall definition of each genre. In addition, there are analyses of contemporary mixed media art pieces, including an analysis of two original pieces of work that the author created to explore this topic.
