Abstract
Natural disasters can strike anywhere including on university campuses across the nation. The focus of this project is on four universities in the United States that have faced major natural disasters in the last five years. The project examines the roles of leadership, communication, response and recovery plans, recruitment and marketing initiatives and how they impact university survivability. These four universities present methodologies in ways to employ leadership, script communications for a variety of publics, orchestrate disaster response and recovery initiatives, and implement marketing and recruitment strategies in order to retain and recruit students.
