Abstract
Current and future Aerospace and Defense (A&D) industry changes have and will continue to impact talent acquisition, retention and leadership development practices. Changes such as cost reduction pressure on A&D companies, workforce shortages as a result of demographic changes, and a shrinking talent pool from which to draw upon in order to develop the numbers of future leaders necessary to sustain high levels of innovation present significant challenges to many A&D companies. In order to meet these challenges, certain talent management, leadership practices, culture and organizational attributes changes are needed. A comparison between needed changes and observations of current A&D practices has revealed several key challenges. Recommendations, including an executive presentation, are presented to address the identified challenges.
