Abstract
Today many corporations are hesitant to implement a virtual workplace or virtual teams. This capstone investigates the benefits and barriers from both the organization and employee perspectives, analyzes the costs and savings, and presents ways to fully utilize the talents of current and future workforces. Research indicates that leaders need to make a conscience decision to migrate from a time based system to a project (results) based system whereby employees can complete work on a schedule and at a location that will work for them. This capstone project asserts that virtual offices are the wave of the future. Companies need to embrace the changing work environments and leaders need to prepare for the changes to effectively manage in these virtual settings.
